Not far from Miramar Beach is an unexpected local hot spot. Crab Island isn’t actually an island at all. It’s a giant sandbar stretching out towards the horizon, covered in the clear blue water of the ocean. Visitors from all over come to relax, and play games on the sandbar, which is the perfect depth to stand and still bring a boat. Here are three tips to make your trip even better!
1. Rent A Boat
One of the most energizing things you can do when visiting the beach is hitting the open water and reaching Crab Island by boat. Rent your own pontoon, fully equipped with its own captain and plenty of other amenities. It’s the best way to travel and makes the destination that much more fun!
2. Things To Do
When you reach the watery shores of Crab Island you’ll have plenty to do! From jet skiing to parasailing and snorkeling you’ll have a blast and so will your vacation partners. Many families bring floats and water toys for the kids, while groups of young adults bring paddle boards and other water games to enjoy.
3. The Best Time To Visit
While Crab Island is always a beautiful place to visit, there are a few times throughout the day that truly set it apart from other destinations. High tide is your best chance to see turquoise waters above the sand bar and is when we highly recommend visiting. If you can’t make it right at high tide, we recommend paying a visit either two hours before or after. At this point in the day the water is crystal clear, making it a great chance to spot sea life under the waves.
